Almost a year ago, Tarija, the wine capital of Bolivia, had the privilege to host the XIV Latin American Conference of Viticulture and Oenology. The event originated in Uruguay as far as 1986 and has been held since then in Argentina, Brasil, Chile and Uruguay. This was the first time Bolivia rose to the challenge of organizing the international event, one that was endorsed by the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) as well as many other emblematic institutions.
The event was a great success, as it provided an atmosphere to share the different experiences surrounding viticulture and oenology in hopes to integrate the different wine growing regions of Latin America. The different qualities that altitude brings to wine were a major focus of the event, in an effort to promote altitude as a trademark of Latin American wines.
We look forward to another opportunity to host such an important event!
